Jaime Laval, Apóstol a Mauricio

Jaime Laval nació en Croth, Francia, el día 18 de septiembre de 1803. Su padre fue un granjero muy rico, quien al morir su abuelo, fue forzado a abandonar la carrera legal que quería y regresar a dirigir los bienes de la familia. En aquellas tierras de sus antepasados, los seis niños Laval pasaron una niñez muy feliz que sólo fue entristecida por el recuerdo del hermano gemelo de Jaime, Michael, quien murió al nacer. Jaime gozaba de buena salud y cuando le preguntaban que iba a ser cuando fuera mayor, él contestaba: ¨sacerdote o médico¨. Pocos sospechaban que ambas ambiciones serían realizadas.
